About Us

Innovative Sutures (“IS”) will save you money and consistently supply you with sutures that have needles made of high quality steel that allows for superior penetration and ductility that will hold up pass after pass!

IS was formed with one objective in mind: To consistently produce high quality absorbable and non-absorbable sutures that will allow professionals to solely focus on their procedures and experience minimum tissue resistance and ease of access to the suture through well designed packaging.

To meet our objective, we started with this basic question: what are the qualities of a superior suture? After conferring with several medical professionals, suture manufacturers and engineers, IS firmly believes the answer revolves around the quality of the needle and packaging designed to facilitate quick and efficient access to the needle and suture material with minimum “memory” after it is taken out of the packaging.

IS has partnered with a suture manufacturer with over 40 years experience in the suture manufacturing business and, after evaluating needles from the best manufacturers around the world, including extensive penetration testing, IS firmly believes it has developed a line of sutures that will meet or exceed your expectations.

The IS suture line has initially been directed towards the veterinarian market and contains sutures widely used in veterinarian clinics and referral centers and, over time, will be expanded into the human market as well.

IS has teamed with Dr. Jacob Shivley, DVM, to create the IS Suture Blog. Over time, IS will release a series of articles written by Dr. Shivley that will be devoted to the use of suture and needles in veterinary medicine. Dr. Shivley’s first article, Principles of Wound Closure, has been released and we would appreciate any questions or comments you may have regarding the article, as well as the articles to be released in the future. Our goal is to not only provide professionals with quality sutures, but we also want our site to be informative and a place where professionals can share their thoughts and ideas regarding the types of needles and sutures materials to utilize across all procedure types.
